Create a link survey

This guide describes how to create a new link survey. Link surveys are standalone pages shared via a URL, QR code, iframe, or email — they don't require an SDK installation.

Prerequisites

Open the create flow

There are two entry points to start a new survey on a link source. They both lead to the same screen.

  • From the Surveys list (sidebar Surveys) — click the New Survey button at the top right
  • From the Surveys empty state — click Create

Set the default language

A modal opens: "Set the default language for your questionnaires".

"This language will be used by default. You can add or change other languages at any time."

Pick your default language from the dropdown. Told currently supports 19 languages, including:

  • Francais, English, Espanol, Italiano, Deutsch, Nederlands, Portugues, Portugues Brasileiro, Turkce, Ukrainska, Polski, Romana, Svenska, Korean, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), Russian, Dansk, Magyar

You can change the default language and add additional languages later from the survey editor.

Click Create to confirm.

info

Unlike website surveys, link surveys don't have a template selection step. Clicking New Survey goes directly to the language picker.

You're in the editor

Told creates the survey and opens it in the editor (/survey/{surveyID}/edition/questions/new). At this point your survey:

  • Has an auto-generated name (New told) shown in the top-left textbox. Click on it to rename it inline at any time.
  • Already includes a Welcome message and a Thank you message, both disabled by default. You can edit or enable them later.
  • Has no questions yet — the editor immediately invites you to add your first one.

What's next

The survey is created. The next thing to do is to add and configure your questions.
