Customization
The Customization sub-tab lets you style how your link survey looks. You'll find it next to Questions in the survey editor (sidebar Content -> Customization).
Layout
The Customization screen has three areas:
- Top of the sidebar — a layout selector dropdown and a Desktop / Mobile toggle (two icons). The layout selector picks the overall shape of the survey page. The device toggle only changes how the preview is rendered — all settings apply to both modes.
- Sidebar sections — 5 collapsible sections, each opening as a small popover when clicked: Color, Cover, Logo, Avatar, Badge.
- Live preview area — a mockup that shows your survey in real time as you change settings.
Layout selector
The dropdown at the top-left of the sidebar lets you pick one of two layouts:
| Layout | Description |
|---|---|
| Capsule (default) | A card-like layout — the colored panel with the avatar appears on the left, and the question area on the right |
| Full Screen | A two-panel layout — the survey takes the full left side, and the colored panel with the avatar fills the right side of the screen |
Color
The Color section has a single color picker (HEX / R / G / B / A inputs with a 2D picker, hue slider, and opacity slider).
This sets the accent color used for the colored panel in both Capsule and Full Screen layouts. The default is the Told brand blue (#1E266D).
Unlike website surveys, link surveys don't have separate Background/Text tabs or Gradient mode — the color picker controls the accent panel color only.
Cover
The Cover section lets you upload a fallback image displayed on every question that doesn't have its own Add a media image.
It contains a placeholder thumbnail and an Upload button. Once uploaded, the image becomes the default media for all questions in the survey.
The cover image only shows on questions that don't have their own media set. If a question has its own image or video via Add a media in the question editor, that one takes priority over the cover.
Logo
The Logo section lets you upload a logo image that appears on the survey page. It contains a placeholder and an Upload button.
Logo is specific to link surveys — it is not available on website surveys.
Avatar
Toggle to show or hide an avatar on the colored panel. Off by default.
When enabled, an input field for the name and an upload area for the image appear. The avatar is displayed prominently on the colored panel in both Capsule and Full Screen layouts.
Badge
A single toggle: "Hide the Told badge" (off by default).
When enabled, the small "told" badge at the bottom of the survey is removed.
This option is plan-locked — it requires the Expert plan or higher. On lower plans, the toggle is disabled and the Told badge always appears.
Differences from website survey customization
Link surveys are standalone pages, not widgets embedded on a host website. As a result, the following website-only settings are not available for link surveys:
| Setting | Why it's not available |
|---|---|
| Position (3x3 grid) | Link surveys are full pages, not positioned widgets |
| Close ("Hide closing button") | There's no close button on a standalone page |
| Overlay ("Add overlay?") | There's no host page to dim behind the survey |
