Chat
The Chat question is an AI-powered conversational question. Instead of collecting a single answer, the respondent has a back-and-forth conversation with an AI agent you configure. The AI can ask follow-up questions, dig into answers, and share resources (links, files, images) when relevant.
In the editor, this type shows up under the label "IA Agent" in the question header. The underlying configuration — prompts and shared resources — lives in a dedicated AI agents section on the source.
This question type is currently in Beta (the badge is shown next to the type name in the editor).
Available on website surveys only.
Add a Chat question
The Chat editor is deliberately minimal. It has:
- The question type icon + name "IA Agent" + Beta badge
- Question — the first message the AI will send to the respondent (textbox, placeholder "Type your title here..."). Use the Improve button to get a Cerebro AI suggestion.
- Agent — a single-select radio list of all AI agents available in the team. Click an agent to attach it to the question. Click it again to detach it.
If the team doesn't have any agent yet, the editor shows an empty-state card:
Create your first AI agent "Add an agent to guide the AI during the conversation: topics to explore, follow-up questions to ask, and specific details to look for in the responses."
Click Create an agent to jump to the AI agents page of the source.
There is no Required toggle and no Options dropdown in the Chat editor header — so no Conditions / Customise buttons / Duplicate / Delete from inside the editor. Delete or reorder the question from the question list in the sidebar.
AI Agents page
Agents and resources are configured on the AI agents entry in the source sidebar (between Audience and Settings). Although the page opens from a source, agents and resources are team-wide — once created they can be attached from any Chat question in any source of the team.
Share respondent information with AI
At the top of the AI agents page, a toggle:
Share respondent information with AI "When enabled, respondent details such as name, job title, company, and other profile data will be shared with the AI during chat conversations. This allows the AI to personalize its questions and responses based on who the respondent is."
Off by default.
Agents
Create an agent with the + button in the AI Agents section. A dialog opens with two fields:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Label shown in the agent list and in the Chat question editor |
| Content | The prompt that drives the AI's behaviour — topics to explore, tone, follow-up rules, what to look for in the responses. Placeholder: "Write the prompt content..." |
Told already applies a base prompt under the hood, so the Content field only needs to cover what's specific to your use case (product context, goals, boundaries).
Click an agent card to open the Edit dialog (same fields). The kebab menu on the card has a single Delete action.
Resources
Below the agents list, the Resources section lets you add content the AI can use during conversations. Three types:
| Resource | Modal | Accepted |
|---|---|---|
| Upload file | "Upload file" | PDF, TXT, CSV, DOCX — 3 MB max |
| Upload Image | "Upload Image" | PNG, JPG, WebP — 3 MB max |
| Add link | "Add link" | Name + URL + Description |
What the AI does with each:
- File — the content is extracted and given to the AI as context (knowledge the AI can answer from).
- Image — transcribed to text when uploaded, then treated as context like a file.
- Link — the AI shares the URL with the respondent when relevant. The Description field ("Describe when the AI should share this link...") tells the AI when to use it.
Uploaded resources appear as cards next to the Upload file / Upload Image / Add link buttons.
Resources, like agents, are shared at the team level — a single library for the whole team.
What respondents see
The Chat question renders as a conversation inside the survey widget:
- The AI opens with the message you typed in the Question field.
- The respondent can reply by text (Enter to send) or switch to voice.
- In voice mode, the AI replies in the same voice and language the respondent speaks — no configuration needed; the survey's language is used by default.
- The AI may ask follow-up questions, reference resources, or share links based on the agent's prompt.
In the report
Chat question results are available across the three standard report views:
| View | What you see |
|---|---|
| Table | The respondent's first reply (one line per respondent) |
| Per-respondent | The full conversation between the AI and that respondent |
| Results | Per-question AI summary (see below) |
AI summary (Résumé IA)
On the Results view, each Chat question shows a "Résumé IA" card generated by Cerebro from the conversations that match the current report filters. It has:
- A short intro paragraph summarizing the overall sentiment
- 5 numbered themes, each with its title, a mention count in bold, and an explanation
- A "Dernière mise à jour le ..." timestamp and an Actualiser le résumé button to regenerate the summary on demand
- A "Powered by Cerebro" footer
The summary is auto-saved once generated. Use Actualiser le résumé to re-read all filtered conversations and rebuild it.
Refreshing the summary rereads every filtered conversation, which consumes tokens. A monthly token limit applies to avoid runaway costs.
