Open question
The Open question lets respondents type a free-form answer. You can choose what kind of input is expected — plain text, email, link, number, or date.
"Give your audience the opportunity to write their ideas and opinions." — UI description
This page documents the fields and options that are specific to the Open question type. For the parts that are common to all question types (header, Question / Description / Add a media, Required toggle, Improve button), see Questions, Welcome and Thank you.
Input Type
Below the Add a media button, the editor shows an Input Type dropdown. It defaults to Text and offers 5 options:
| Type | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Text (default) | Free-form text input — can be multi-line |
| Validates that the input looks like an email address | |
| Link | Validates that the input looks like a URL |
| Number | Accepts numeric input only |
| Date | Date picker |
The selected type determines both the validation applied to the respondent's answer and the input control shown in the rendered survey.
Options menu
The header Options dropdown contains:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Conditions | Skip logic — "Jump from a question to another based on user input." |
| Customise buttons | Customise the text of the next and previous buttons |
| Duplicate question | Make an exact copy of the question |
| Delete question (red) | Permanently remove the question from the survey |
There is no "Multiple answers" or "Add other choice" option — those are specific to Multiple choice.
