Open question

The Open question lets respondents type a free-form answer. You can choose what kind of input is expected — plain text, email, link, number, or date.

"Give your audience the opportunity to write their ideas and opinions." — UI description

This page documents the fields and options that are specific to the Open question type. For the parts that are common to all question types (header, Question / Description / Add a media, Required toggle, Improve button), see Questions, Welcome and Thank you.

Input Type

Below the Add a media button, the editor shows an Input Type dropdown. It defaults to Text and offers 5 options:

TypeBehavior
Text (default)Free-form text input — can be multi-line
EmailValidates that the input looks like an email address
LinkValidates that the input looks like a URL
NumberAccepts numeric input only

The selected type determines both the validation applied to the respondent's answer and the input control shown in the rendered survey.
